Felt bunny ornament with a flower-trimmed hat and a basket with an Easter egg.

This sweet felt bunny wears a hat trimmed with Spring blossom and carries a basket with an Easter egg inside. Perhaps she’s taking it as a gift to a garden party, or maybe she’s taking part in an egg hunt with her friends.
Did you grow up with the Easter Bunny or the more historic Easter Hare?
As young children, my brother and I were visited by the Easter Hare, who left us notes with clues to help us find the chocolate eggs he’d hidden in our garden. One year, one of us noticed that the notes were in our Mum’s handwriting, but she explained that the Easter Hare must have borrowed her pen!

Being a lifelong admirer of Beatrix Potter’s beautiful little books and illustrations, I thought I’d try adapting my pattern to make Benjamin Bunny.

Showing how the body and arms have been cut from brown felt to create the jacket
Easter bunny felt ornament pattern adapted to make Benjamin Bunny with a Tam O'Shanter hat and a red handkerchief.

I divided the Body A template at the neck and cut the lower part in dark brown to represent the jacket, also dividing the arms into hands and sleeves.

I made Benjamin’s “Tam O’Shanter” by sewing the hat on in front of the ears and adding a red pompon.

You can also make the Easter bunny with flowers in the basket, for a more general Spring decoration.
