Teal blue felt needle book with puffin applique on the cover

I’ve accumulated many packs of needles over the years, but I tend to stick to only a few favourites which are just the right length and thickness for most of the sewing I do.

A felt needle book provides a safe place for these special needles plus some spares and some pins. There’s even room for a small pair of scissors and perhaps a card of buttons in the pocket at the back.

The pattern includes instructions on how to decorate the cover with an appliqued and embroidered puffin, and how to assemble the cover, pages and pocket into a finished book.

I used a teal blue felt for the cover, with a lighter blue for the lining, pages and pocket,

I also tried one in purple and plum coloured felt.

You could go extra colourful and use different shades for each part.

You could also substitute your own applique or embroidery design for the cover.

You can find the pattern for the needle book here.
